Reading the Starlink availability map

The map on starlink.com answers 'is it offered here?'. It doesn't answer 'what will it cost me?' or 'how fast is it here?'.

Quick answer· Is Starlink available in my area?

Check your address on starlink.com's availability map. It's the only real source. Then go to checkout to see any demand surcharge, which the map doesn't show.

Check availability on starlink.comReferral link (the site owner’s own): Starlink may give the owner a reward if you order; your price is the same. US service addresses only.

Check your address

The map is on starlink.com, and you type your address there. This site never asks for it. Starlink's own articles point to the map as the place to check capacity, including when an address change fails.

What the map shows

  • Whether service is offered at an address
  • Whether an area is marked sold out or waitlisted
  • Which plans you can order there

What it leaves out

  • The demand surcharge. It appears only at checkout, after you pick a plan. What others reported.
  • Real-world speeds. Plan pages give typical ranges, not what your county sees in the evening. Speeds by county.

Checking in the right order

  1. The map

Is it offered at your address?

  2. Checkout

Read every line. Is there a surcharge?

  3. Sky view

    Use the app's obstruction check.

  4. Decide

Big fee and working internet? Waiting can win.
