What changed
On August 4, 2026, SpaceX released its first quarterly results as a public company, for the quarter ended June 30, 2026. For Starlink, the release said it:
- “Reached 12.0 million Starlink Subscribers as of the end of Q2 2026, doubling year-over-year and up 1.7 million sequentially.”
- Its table shows 10.3 million at March 31, 2026 and 6.0 million at June 30, 2025.
SpaceX counts a subscriber as a service line, not a household or person (its May 2026 filing set out that definition; see our item).
The release also said spending on “our next-generation V3 satellites” is expected to “deliver meaningful increases in broadband capacity and data density,” and described Starship Flight 13 in July as “deploying 20 production V3 satellites.”
What it means for you
Sold-out areas and demand surcharges come from local capacity running short where many people sign up at once. A network adding about 1.7 million service lines in three months is adding demand quickly; whether capacity keeps pace in a given area is what decides your checkout. These results don’t say where the growth happened.
The same release ties future capacity to V3 satellites, which only began reaching orbit in late September 2026 (our item).
Who this covers
- All Starlink service lines worldwide, Personal and Business. No US figure is given.
What you can check now
- Your own checkout at your real service address is still the only real surcharge quote. See how to check before ordering.
- We log dated capacity changes on the sold-out log and surcharge changes on the surcharge timeline.
What stays the same
No change to Starlink’s surcharge rules, sold-out status or plan speed ranges came with these results. Starlink’s reactivation article still said “there are currently no sold-out regions in the United States” when we re-read it on October 6, 2026.
What we don’t know yet
- How many of the 12.0 million service lines are in the US, or in which areas growth was fastest.
- Whether faster growth is linked to the higher surcharge amounts reported in mid-2026. The release doesn’t mention surcharges, and we don’t infer a link.
Our data
None. Company figures are not crowd data.
